74% of Russians Used Browser AI Features in the Past Month — Smart Ranking
74% of Russians used browser AI features in the past month. Only Yandex Browser's features work fully in Russia — 10 out of 10, according to a study by Smart Ranking.

74% of surveyed Russians used built-in browser AI features over the past month. These figures were released by the analytical agency Smart Ranking, which studied the AI browser market, their functionality, availability in Russia, and user experience. For most users, AI in the browser is already a regular habit: 27% turn to it daily, and another 48% — several times a week.
Which Features Russians Use Most Often
The leader is page translation: 62% of AI browser users used this feature. In second place are summarization and answers based on the context of a page, PDF, or video (44%). Next come:
- text generation — 35%;
- help with wording and editing — 33%;
- product selection — 30%;
- image generation and finding the main point across multiple tabs — 26% each;
- tab organization — 8%.
The survey was conducted in July 2026 on the Anketa Log (Anketolog) platform among 1,000 respondents from cities with populations of 100 thousand or more. The sample is representative by age, gender, and type of settlement.
Those who already actively use neural networks turn to browser AI features more often: among regular users of AI tools, 93% used them. Among those who usually do not use neural networks — only 15%.
Who Leads in Usage
Yandex Browser turned out to be the most widespread among respondents: 78% use it at least once a month, and 44% named it their primary browser. This leadership carries over to AI: 58% of those who used AI features in the past month did so specifically in Yandex Browser.
What Prevents More Active Use
Among those who already use AI features, the main barrier is errors and inaccurate answers (30%). Another 29% use one or two features and see no value in the rest. 20% each prefer ChatGPT or Claude and do not understand when browser AI features are better than external tools. 18% are concerned about privacy.
Among those who did not use built-in AI in the past month, almost half (43%) see no benefit in it, and a third (30%) are unaware of such features. For 58% of this group, a clear benefit in everyday tasks could motivate them, for 27% — a more convenient interface, and for 26% — higher quality answers.
How the Functionality Rating Works
2025 was a turning point for the market: Google opened Gemini in Chrome to a broad audience in September 2025, Opera introduced the agentic browser Opera Neon, and Perplexity opened access to Comet for all users.
Smart Ranking analyzed 14 browsers: those popular in Russia according to StatCounter and Yandex Radar (Chrome, Yandex, Safari, Opera, Edge, Firefox, Samsung Internet, Brave) plus AI-first products Dia, Comet, Fellou, Arc, Opera Neon, and ChatGPT Atlas. Products were compared by the presence of 16 AI features: each earned 1 point.
Perplexity Comet and Microsoft Edge shared first place — 11 points out of 16 each. Comet stands out for autonomous scenarios: it works with connected services and performs tasks in the background and on a schedule. Edge is distinguished by deep Copilot integration into search, tabs, and PDF, as well as multi-step agentic actions. Yandex Browser and Google Chrome follow with a small gap — 10 points each.
The most common feature — page translation — is present in 13 of the 14 browsers. AI assistants in split-screen mode are available in 12 products, agentic features in 10, and the same number offer AI agents to help with shopping. Generative AI search is implemented in eight browsers. Background and scheduled tasks are rare: only four products support them.
What Is Available to Russian Users
Most AI browsers remain not fully accessible to Russians: features either do not work without a VPN or require a subscription that cannot be paid for with a Russian card.
Only Yandex Browser works fully in Russia — with 10 out of 10 AI features. Perplexity Comet has 6 out of 11 features available, Chrome — 4 out of 10, Edge — 3 out of 11. For some browsers, the chat assistant and its related agentic scenarios stop working without a VPN, while translation and basic AI search remain available. The AI-first browsers Dia, Arc, Opera Neon, ChatGPT Atlas, and Fellou were completely unavailable in Russia without a VPN at the time of the study.
As a result, the authors of the study conclude, the mass experience of Russian users is shaped primarily around Yandex Browser.
