AGR and Defetoo Launch New Auto Brand Votour in Russia
AGR and Defetoo are launching the new auto brand Votour in Russia: crossovers and SUVs, including premium versions, will be sold under the marque. Model names and sales dates will be revealed later.
Holding company AGR and China's Defetoo are bringing the new automotive brand Votour to the Russian market, RBC reported. The brand will be used to sell crossovers and SUVs, including premium versions.
AGR calls the launch the next stage of its strategic partnership with Defetoo. Its goal is to expand both companies' presence in the crossover and SUV segments.
What is known about the Votour lineup
The new brand's model range is designed for three usage scenarios: everyday driving, off-road travel, and premium off-road journeys. The partners have not yet revealed the names of the vehicles.
The production program and sales start dates will also remain secret until a separate announcement. The partners promise to disclose this information later.
Where the brand came from
Votour first appeared in the public domain back in 2025. At that time, the Russian distributor of Jetour registered the domains votour-motor.ru and votour-auto.ru in the Roskomnadzor registry.
At the same time, a company called Votour Motor Rus appeared, registered at the same address as the Jetour representative office.
In October, Delovoi Peterburg reported, citing data from the State Industry Information System (GISP) and representatives of dealer holdings, that preparations were underway to produce the Votour V5 and V6 models based on the Jetour Dashing.
How the AGR-Defetoo partnership developed
Cooperation between AGR and Defetoo began in February 2025 with an agreement to produce Tenet vehicles at the former Volkswagen plant in Kaluga. The project provided for a phased deepening of localization — from semi-knocked-down assembly to a full cycle with body welding and painting.
The Tenet vehicles are built on the basis of Chery models. The T4, T7, and T8 crossovers are restyled versions of the Tiggo 4, Tiggo 7L, and Tiggo 8 Plus, respectively, and are produced at AGR's Kaluga plant using a full production cycle.
How many brands the partners have already launched
The joint portfolio of AGR and Defetoo has quickly expanded:
- Tenet — the first project, launched in February 2025;
- Jeland and Tenet Plus — two brands announced in February of this year, with Tenet Plus becoming the third joint automotive project;
- Esteo — a premium brand added in May; its vehicles will also be produced at AGR plants.
Now Votour has been added to this list. This brings the number of brands in the joint portfolio to five, with the partners' presence spanning segments from mass-market crossovers to premium SUVs.
