Burger King has released a limited-edition micro bag called Le Nugguette, the size of a single chicken nugget. The accessory is timed to coincide with the launch of new nuggets that hit the chain's menu in early September. The bag can only be purchased online and only until September 16.

The concept itself is simple and radical at the same time. Le Nugguette is a miniature bag, shrunk below the threshold of practicality. Practically nothing fits inside it, except the symbolic status of its owner.

The launch timing was no accident. The accessory came out at the height of fashion season — a period when fashion weeks take place in New York, London, Milan, and Paris. During this time, audience attention is riveted to new collections and unusual accessories, and the brand is counting on tapping into this information flow.

The product is built around a collecting mechanic. Each bag comes with one of four keychains replicating Burger King's new sauces: Picky Special, Honey Mustard, Buffalo, and Sweet and Sour. Which keychain a buyer gets is determined randomly — this creates a collector's-hunt effect and stimulates repeat purchases.

Inside each bag there is also a promo code for a portion of the new nuggets. That way the accessory and the product it advertises are sold together: the bag buyer is guaranteed to try the new menu item.

This is not Burger King's first foray into limited-edition merch. Previously, the chain unveiled a Boomer King advertising campaign with references to 80s and 90s films. Back then, the fast-food brand released exclusive merchandise, including a t-shirt featuring the imagery of the old TV series Knight Rider.
