OpenAI raises $30 billion and could be valued at $1.4 trillion
OpenAI is in talks to raise at least $30 billion, which could push the company's valuation to $1.4 trillion. The round was launched after the IPO was postponed — in the race for capital against Anthropic.

OpenAI is in talks with investors to raise at least $30 billion in new capital. The deal could lift the valuation of the artificial intelligence pioneer to $1.4 trillion, according to materials about the new funding round.
The round was launched after the company postponed its initial public offering (IPO). Its goal is once again to outpace its main competitor in the private capital market, Anthropic, in the race for investor money.
According to previously obtained data, preliminary consultations with investors centered around a valuation of approximately $1.2 trillion ahead of the planned stock market debut. Now the bar has risen.
IPO Postponement and Sam Altman's Logic
The decision to delay the IPO is a key element of the strategy of OpenAI's founder and CEO Sam Altman. The success of the new funding round directly depends on how the market perceives this postponement: if investors deem it justified, the company will secure capital on favorable terms without the financial disclosure required by the exchange.
At the same time, OpenAI is operating under intense pressure from competitors — Anthropic and Meta. The competition is reflected in the company's product launches and pricing.
What the Anthropic Document Leak Revealed
Anthropic, which is preparing for an IPO, has faced a leak of its offering prospectus. The document revealed how expensive and capital-intensive the rapid growth of the AI business truly is.
Financial expert Nelli Janson drew attention to the proportions of the document: the risk disclosure in the leaked prospectus is allotted 80 pages, while the description of the business itself takes up only 48. Such a structure speaks volumes about the nature of an industry where uncertainty dominates over business model.
