Chery Moves Jetour Upscale: 905 hp and a Bet on Exports
Chery sold 2.2 million vehicles in three quarters of 2026, with exports up 65.6%. The company is now moving Jetour upmarket as part of its Globalization 3.0 strategy.

Chery Group sold 2.2 million vehicles in the first three quarters of 2026, 1.5 million of them in foreign markets. Against the backdrop of its export surge, the company has decided to move the Jetour sub-brand into a more expensive segment and turn it into a global SUV marque. The restructuring is part of Chery's new strategy called Globalization 3.0, Carnewschina reports.
What happened to Jetour?
On October 7, Chery announced management changes. Executive Vice President Li Xueyun is now in charge of the Jetour division, its development in the higher segment, and the brand's promotion in the global SUV market.
At the same time, the core Chery brand was incorporated into a unified global system. This direction is led by Executive Vice President Zhang Guibing. He also oversees international business, design, human resources, the legal department, and other global divisions of the group.
Why the bet on Jetour looks logical?
The company does not link the reshuffle to sales problems or the weakness of individual sub-brands. The numbers speak for themselves:
- the group's overall sales grew by 9.9%;
- exports increased by 65.6%;
- 1.5 million of the 2.2 million vehicles sold went to foreign markets.
Jetour is already moving toward more expensive SUVs. A telling example is the Jetour G700. It is a body-on-frame PHEV measuring 5.2 m long with two electric motors and a combined output of up to 905 hp. On the website, the model is explicitly positioned as a premium hybrid SUV.
Will Jetour be elevated instead of Exeed?
No. Chery's structure already includes the Exeed marque, which occupies a more traditional premium niche. Jetour will now be separated out — with an emphasis on all-wheel-drive and "boxy" models.
In essence, Chery is dividing its brands into different directions:
- the core Chery brand — a unified global system;
- Exeed — classic premium;
- Jetour — expensive SUVs for world markets.
Whether this scheme will work in practice will be shown by the sales of new models.
