Discord has launched Video Quests, a mobile rewarded-video format in which users receive the in-game currency Orbs for watching approximately 15 seconds. At the same time, the platform introduced Discord Ads Manager, a set of tools for creating and managing ad campaigns within the app, according to the company's press release.

Ads Manager operates on an auction model. Advertisers can create campaigns, adjust budgets, and track performance using the platform's own metrics and third-party data. Access is currently open to select advertisers; a fully self-serve mode is planned for 2027.

Video Quests grew out of the Quests format that Discord introduced a year earlier. According to the company's internal data, the median ad completion rate in the old format reached 97%. The original version of the product is now called Video Quests Reserve: it is a placement-reservation offering where users receive their reward after watching the full video. The new mobile Video Quests format awards Orbs after approximately 15 seconds of viewing.

The auction mechanics of Ads Manager lower the barrier to entry: the platform is available to advertisers with any budget. Discord is developing its advertising business methodically — releasing new formats and strengthening measurement tools. The bet is placed on an audience of 90 million daily users.

"Discord Ads Manager puts more control in the hands of advertisers, and Video Quests give performance marketers a format that turns attention into action through an experience native to Discord. Together, they make it easier to reach highly engaged gamers and launch campaigns at scale," said Nabib El-Rahman, Vice President of Product and Business at Discord.

While Discord is traditionally associated with PCs, the company is deliberately developing its mobile capabilities. This is part of a broader strategy to monetize its gaming audience.

The context for the advertising market looks contradictory. Two-thirds of Americans play video games, but ad budgets in this channel do not yet match its scale. Brand interest is growing — largely thanks to the audience's high engagement. While not a game itself, Discord occupies a key place in gaming's social infrastructure: users communicate through the platform right while playing.

There is already real-world practice. In 2025, ahead of the premiere of "A Minecraft Movie," Walmart launched its own Skyward server in Minecraft Java with exclusive merchandise, sales of which went through the project's Discord server.
