"Zen" has introduced a new tool called "Accent," which pins a selected native article (an advertising material created by an editorial team on a brand's order) under every text publication by a media outlet on the platform. The company's press service said the solution is designed to support media outlets' native projects and additional brand touchpoints with the audience.

What Can "Accent" Do?

The tool is connected through the Zen Studio and works in editorial partnership projects with brands. Once activated, the selected native article is pinned under every text publication by the outlet on Zen. The user sees it immediately after the piece they are reading.

The company cites three effects of the implementation:

  • the editorial team increases the reach of native materials on the platform;
  • the brand gets additional interaction with the audience through content created by the media outlet;
  • the partner article is distributed among Zen's broad audience without separate placements.

In essence, the mechanism turns the outlet's entire publication feed into a carrier for one selected piece.

How Does the Company Assess It?

Anna Gorbik, Product Director at Zen, notes that editorial teams already create native materials for brands, and "Accent" adds a clear distribution mechanism within the platform on top of that.

"As a result, the media outlet gets a new product it can offer to the market, and the brand can plan not only the publication of an article but also its additional reach," Gorbik believes.

In other words, the outlet expands its commercial offering, and the advertiser gains predictability of placement results.

Who Has Access to the Tool?

Currently, "Accent" is open to editorial teams whose materials users read directly on Zen. The platform plans to expand access in the future and open the tool to news authors.

The company's announcement does not specify a timeline for connecting news authors.

For the native advertising market, the launch means the emergence of a new distribution format: the reach of a partner article is now built in at the level of the outlet's entire feed, rather than a single publication.
