McDonald's Opened a Butcher Shop in London to Prove What Its Patties Are Made Of
McDonald's, together with Freuds Group and OSI Group, opened The Counter shop in Shoreditch to show that its patties contain only beef, salt, and pepper.

McDonald's turned a butcher shop in the London district of Shoreditch (East End) into a demonstration space called The Counter for several days. The goal of the campaign is to prove that the chain's burger patties are made from natural beef with no additives. The company carried out the project together with advertising agency Freuds Group and meat supplier OSI Group, Ads With Benefits reports, citing the campaign.
Above the shop's entrance hung a banner with a laconic slogan: "Beef, salt, pepper. That's it." Inside, visitors watched the production of patties for the fast food chain and talked with the farmers and suppliers who provide beef for McDonald's.
Guests also attended workshops and made patties themselves. "What's the best way to prove that beef is the only ingredient in a McDonald's patty in the UK and Ireland? Show it," said Freuds Group partner Joe Vivien-Robinson.
The choice of location was no accident. Shoreditch is one of London's key culinary districts: it is home to independent butcher shops and restaurant chefs with transparent sourcing policies. The area's audience is sensitive to the quality and origin of products, making the venue an effective channel for communicating about ingredients.
The Counter campaign continues McDonald's push for transparency in its production processes. The pop-up format, with consumers in direct contact with suppliers, allows the chain to answer skepticism about fast food quality without traditional advertising.
Earlier, McDonald's registered more than 10 new trademarks in Russia. In total, there are 14 marks, including Ronald McDonald House, McCafe, and McCrispy.
