Meta has launched Muse for Small Business, an AI agent that performs tasks across multiple business applications at once. The company announced the new product in a blog post on Tuesday.

In addition to business accounts on Instagram and Facebook, the tool integrates with Shopify, Stripe, Intuit QuickBooks, Asana, Box, Canva, Zoom and a number of other platforms. This allows the agent to analyze a company's brand, storefront, bookkeeping and customer records.

Muse is free up to a certain token limit. For additional usage, subscribers pay from $20 to $100 per month.

From personal assistant to business

The expansion of Muse to small business followed last month's launch of the AI assistant for users in the US and Canada. As noted in Meta's blog post of September 8, for private users Muse can fill out forms, send emails, book trips and turn recipes into shopping lists.

Now the company is bringing the assistant to small businesses so it can support the services companies already use. According to Meta, businesses can require human confirmation before Muse makes a purchase or publishes information.

Transaction security

When Muse performs operations on behalf of a small business, the agent uses one-time card numbers for new merchants, does not collect passwords or payment data, and does not pass virtual machine data to Meta's advertising systems. A company representative said this in a letter to the Retail Dive editorial team.

Amazon's objections

Not all companies welcomed Muse's launch. Last week, Amazon demanded that Meta remove its marketplace from the Muse platform: the company had not consented to being present in the tool.

This is a continuation of the conflict around AI agents. Last year, Amazon sued Perplexity after its AI agents made purchases on Amazon. The parties continue their litigation. In August, a US appeals court overturned a preliminary injunction that had barred Perplexity from buying goods on Amazon.
