Russian Strike on Cosmonova Data Center Knocked Out Suspilne's Video Players
A Russian attack on September 25 damaged the Cosmonova data center, a provider of online streaming solutions. As a result, video players on Suspilne's website are not working. Customer data was saved by geographic redundancy.

Video players on the website of the Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne are temporarily out of service. The reason is damage to the Cosmonova data center resulting from a Russian attack on September 25. Suspilne itself reported this.
Cosmonova confirmed that the data center's premises were damaged, while staff members were unharmed. The company warned of possible service disruptions. Customer data was saved thanks to geographic redundancy. The company's services continue to run on backup sites, and engineers and technical specialists are assessing the extent of the damage.
"Unfortunately, our main core and data center have been hit and put out of operation again. Our team is already working on restoring all services from geographically remote backup sites in safe locations. We are making every effort and doing everything possible to return everything to stable operation and provide access to services as quickly as possible," the company explained.
Cosmonova provides technological solutions for online streaming. This is why the outage affected the video players on Suspilne's website.
A Series of Strikes on Digital Infrastructure
The attack on Cosmonova was not the first such incident in recent days. On September 23, as a result of a Russian attack, one of Kyiv's data centers was damaged, housing the core equipment of internet provider UTELS. The same attack caused problems with the operation of the cloud service Fex.net. At the same time, according to operators, internet outages affected about 100 thousand households in Kyiv and the region.
On September 24, following a Russian attack on Kyiv, the providers Domonet, Kievnet, and Faust reported infrastructure damage and internet disruptions. On the same day, Russia destroyed a data center hosting the infrastructure of hosting provider MiroHost. The company cannot yet say when its operation will be restored.
On September 25, as a result of a Russian attack, the data center of the company Datagroup was damaged.
Reaction of the State and the Media Market
During a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff, decisions were made on protecting data centers and other critically important communications facilities. This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
The TV channel Novosti.LIVE temporarily suspended broadcasting due to disruptions in the operation of some services after the Russian attack on the capital's infrastructure. The TV channel Armiya TV also halted operations in connection with the shelling of data centers.
Thus, over three days — from September 23 to 25 — strikes on Kyiv data centers knocked out or complicated the operations of at least six technology companies: UTELS, Fex.net, MiroHost, Datagroup, Cosmonova, and Domonet. Media companies dependent on their infrastructure were also affected. The situation clearly demonstrated the media sector's vulnerability to strikes on commercial data centers, even with geographic redundancy in place.
