Video service Rutube has begun testing an AI assistant for creators. This was reported by the platform's press service. The tool will combine functions for preparing, designing, and developing content in Rutube Studio — the unified workspace for the platform's authors.

The testing began against the backdrop of Rutube's consistent bet on machine learning: earlier, the service developed its own ML model to automatically determine video content categories with an accuracy of over 93%.

What can the AI assistant do?

According to the press service, the new tool will perform a whole set of tasks for the author:

  • analyze the author's channel;
  • track trends;
  • analyze the competitive landscape;
  • suggest ideas and scripts for videos;
  • build a content plan.

In effect, the assistant covers the entire production cycle — from generating a topic to preparing a video for publication. For authors, this means fewer manual operations at stages that previously required separate tools or working with contractors.

Why does the platform itself need this?

Deputy General Director and head of digital assets at Gazprom-Media Holding, Sergey Kosinsky, outlined the economic logic behind the launch. "The AI assistant simplifies the path from a video idea to its publication on the platform," he emphasized. "For video platforms, this means an increase in the volume and regularity of content, greater engagement, and longer watch time."

Kosinsky also stressed the strategic nature of the initiative: "We see AI services for authors not only as a technological task, but also as one of the tools for business development."

The wording matters for the advertising market: growth in content volume and regularity directly affects the inventory available for ad placement, while longer watch time improves the effectiveness of brand campaigns.

What is machine learning already delivering for Rutube?

The ML model for determining video content categories is already used in the platform's advertising algorithms. It allows brands to place video ads in the most suitable context. The press service notes higher effectiveness and engagement for such placements compared to regular ones.

Classification accuracy is over 93%. For advertisers, this means reduced risks of ads appearing next to irrelevant or unsafe content and improved context-based targeting.

How does this fit into the market context?

The launch of an AI assistant for creators continues Rutube's drive to expand the functionality of Studio, the tool through which authors manage their channels. Previously, the platform had already extended its monetization and analytics capabilities.

The AI assistant shifts competition between video platforms into a new dimension: they are now competing not only for audiences, but also for authors, offering them production tools. The lower the entry barrier for creating content, the greater the potential volume of publications on the platform — and the more ad inventory it can offer brands.

The platform has not yet disclosed when testing will be completed or the date of a full rollout of the tool to all authors. It is also unclear whether the assistant will be paid or become part of the basic functionality of Rutube Studio.
