Yandex restored Direct cabinet after three days of outage
The Direct cabinet was down from October 11 to 14 due to a drone at the data center. Campaigns ran according to settings, but they could not be stopped. Since October 15 — limited mode.

Yandex restored access to the Direct personal cabinet on October 15 — the web interface and mobile app were down from October 11 to 14 due to a drone strike at the company's data center. Neither advertisers nor Yandex employees could log into the cabinet during these three days. The advertising service itself continued to operate.
What happened to campaigns
Previously launched campaigns ran according to their set parameters: strategies, schedules, placements, and limits. Budget spending remained within advertisers' plans.
A Yandex representative explained: "Promotion through Direct continued to deliver leads, inquiries, and sales to advertisers. Promotion budget spending remained only within advertisers' own plans: their set daily and weekly budgets were observed, and charges were made only for actual user actions (clicks/conversions), as always in Direct. Campaign statistics were preserved."
It was technically impossible to pause campaigns from October 11 to 14. "On October 11 — the day of the drone strike at our data center — our managers and support service were in contact with clients around the clock and recorded their questions and requests so that changes could be made as soon as access to the Direct interface was restored," the company reported.
What the restoration changes for practitioners
Since October 15, the cabinet has been operating but in a limited functionality mode. Key operations are available:
- launching previously created campaigns;
- stopping active campaigns;
- topping up the balance;
- setting weekly budget limits on the shared account.
Restrictions remain. According to the company, statistics data may be incomplete, settings cannot be edited, and certain tools are unavailable.
Practitioners should keep in mind: inquiries accumulated during the outage were recorded manually by support services. Changes to campaigns were only made after access was restored, so some edits may have taken effect with a delay of up to three days.
Did advertisers leave
Earlier, Kommersant sources reported that some advertisers, due to the outages, decided to completely stop campaigns in Yandex Direct and switch to alternative channels. Yandex denied this possibility.
Later, two of the three named brands denied stopping their campaigns. The third company — Channel Five — according to Yandex's press service, is not a current Direct client. According to Kommersant, Channel Five is not a direct client: it operates on the platform through an intermediary.
For the market, this is a story of how infrastructure risk translates into advertising budgets. Campaigns continued to spend money as planned, but they could not be managed for three days — advertisers depended on manual recording of inquiries by Yandex support.
