On September 18, Russia hosted the first conference entirely dedicated to advertising in banking ecosystems — Fintech Media Day. The event brought together banks, advertising platforms, agencies, and major advertiser brands on a single stage.

The discussions featured the heads of advertising divisions from T-Bank, Yandex Plus AdTech, Alfa-Bank, SberAds, and MTS Ads. Joining the conversation were representatives from the agency side and advertisers: ADV, OKKAM, Arnest UniRus, M.Video, Gazprom Neft, and Level.Travel. This lineup of speakers alone demonstrates the scale of the phenomenon: banking ecosystems are already of interest both to those selling advertising and to those buying it.

The conference's main thesis was that the market is entering the era of fintech media. The audience of banking apps and related services has turned into an independent advertising inventory that deserves a separate look — separate from classic digital and separate from the traditional media split.

Participants discussed several key questions. The first was the need to define the boundaries of the new category within the advertising split. As long as fintech media is not distinguished as a standalone segment, it is difficult for advertisers and agencies to plan budgets and compare performance against other channels.

The second block concerned measurement approaches. A category claiming a place in media plans must have transparent and comparable metrics. Participants discussed which measurement tools are applicable to advertising within banking ecosystems and what the market still needs to agree on.

The third topic was the regulatory framework. Experts agreed that it requires further development: without clear rules of the game, the category will scale more slowly than its potential allows.

The conference became the first venue where banks, platforms, agencies, and brands discussed fintech media as a single subject of conversation. Judging by the makeup of the participants, the format proved in demand: around the discussion tables sat players who had previously competed or had never crossed paths at all in advertising negotiations.

The fact that advertising divisions discussed carving out the category in the split, measurement, and regulation already at the first conference speaks to the maturity of the demand. The market is not merely testing a new channel — it is trying to immediately build infrastructure for it: terminology, metrics, and rules.
