Best Buy to Start Selling Amazon Fire TV Ad Impressions
Best Buy will start selling Amazon Fire TV ad inventory on Insignia televisions. Purchases will go through Amazon's DSP, said Lisa Valentino of Best Buy.

Best Buy will sell a portion of Amazon Fire TV's ad inventory. The agreement between the two companies opens up for advertisers the ability to target and measure the reach of Best Buy shoppers on Amazon's streaming platform.
The consumer electronics retailer reported this week. Financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed.
Fire TV is not only Amazon's streaming platform but also the operating system for Insignia Fire TV televisions — Best Buy's own private label brand. Under the new deal, Best Buy will be able to sell ad inventory on all existing and new Insignia Fire TV devices.
Inventory purchases will be made through Amazon's demand-side platform (DSP). Lisa Valentino, head of advertising and media at Best Buy, told Adweek.
The deal strengthens Best Buy's position in the fast-growing retail media market. The partnership with Amazon gives the electronics retailer chain access to a streaming TV audience — a segment traditionally dominated by major technology platforms. For advertisers, the benefit lies in the ability to combine Best Buy's purchase data with Fire TV's targeting and measurement tools.
The retailer has been developing its own advertising division for several years, monetizing traffic from its stores and online platforms. The partnership with Amazon becomes another step in this strategy: Best Buy now acts not only as a media platform but also as a reseller of inventory from a third-party platform.
For Amazon, the deal expands the distribution of Fire TV ad inventory through its partner's retail network. The platform gains an additional sales channel for impressions on devices running its operating system.
The retail media market remains one of the fastest-growing segments of digital advertising. Retailers around the world are connecting their purchase data to advertising opportunities, and streaming TV is becoming an increasingly significant format within this ecosystem. The union of Best Buy and Amazon is an example of how major retailers and platforms are dividing the ad market, combining purchase data with television reach.
