DoorDash Launches Food Ordering via SMS and Slack
DoorDash has unveiled the AI-based MCP protocol for corporate orders via Slack and a pilot feature for ordering through Apple Messages — already 20 thousand users in the US.

DoorDash has launched ordering via text messages and Slack. Company co-founder Andy Fang announced this at a media event in San Francisco, the broadcast of which took place on Tuesday.
The company unveiled DoorDash MCP (model context protocol) — an artificial intelligence-based protocol for corporate orders. The solution allows companies to automate restaurant orders for offices and regular purchases of supplies. According to Fang, the platform's task is to put these processes "on autopilot."
In parallel, DoorDash is testing a feature in Apple Messages. A user writes in a message that they want something to eat, or asks to repeat a usual order — the service handles the delivery on its own. The pilot is already running in the US: 20 thousand consumers have joined the testing.
Both features are built on AI technologies and reflect DoorDash's course toward simplifying the path from craving to order: instead of opening the app and selecting items — a single text message in a familiar channel.
The corporate segment is becoming a separate priority for the service. The MCP integration is geared toward workplace scenarios: office managers will be able to set up recurring orders and restocking without manually processing each request, including through workplace tools like Slack.
The mass consumer segment gets a simpler scenario. The Apple Messages feature is designed for repeat orders — the most frequent category of requests in food delivery. A user simply needs to send a text with a request or an ask to repeat a previous order.
The company has not yet disclosed the timing of a full-scale rollout of both features or plans for expansion beyond the US.
