Salesforce is buying Listen Labs for around $2 billion
Salesforce is buying the AI customer research platform Listen Labs for around $2 billion. The startup, with a network of 50 million participants, will join Salesforce AI Labs.

Salesforce is acquiring the startup Listen Labs, a platform for automated AI-based customer research — according to several media reports, the deal is worth around $2 billion. The parties have not officially disclosed the financial terms.
The companies announced a definitive agreement on Tuesday evening. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of Salesforce's 2027 fiscal year, subject to regulatory approval and customary conditions.
Listen Labs uses artificial intelligence to help companies design studies, recruit participants, conduct interviews, and analyze responses. According to Salesforce, the startup has access to a network of more than 50 million research participants and conducts interviews in more than 120 languages.
The acquisition will allow Salesforce to bring qualitative customer research closer to the data already stored on its platform. The company says Listen Labs will complement Marketing Cloud and Service Cloud, as well as provide additional context for its AI agents.
Another source of customer context
Listen Labs was founded in 2023 by Alfred Wahlforss and Florian Juengermann. Wahlforss said the idea grew out of an AI interviewer the founders built after their app suddenly attracted 20,000 users and they wanted to understand who these people were.
“What began as an AI interviewer is now a full-fledged platform for understanding customers,” Wahlforss wrote in announcing the deal. “Listen finds the right people, interviews them, analyzes what they say, and even simulates their behavior.”
The simulation capability is one of the most interesting parts of the deal. Listen Labs builds what it calls “digital twins”: AI simulations that help companies test how customers might react to products, messages, or ideas. According to Salesforce, the simulations are based on real customer behavior and can be used before conducting further tests with live humans.
Listen Labs will become part of Salesforce AI Labs. Wahlforss said he will remain CEO, and Juengermann will remain CTO.
For marketers, the purchase could turn customer research into another source of data within CRM workflows, rather than something that lives mostly in reports and presentations.
At the same time, it is important to preserve the distinction between types of data. Interviews capture what selected participants say; AI simulations estimate what customers might say or do. If Salesforce ultimately opens both types of data to agents that make recommendations or take actions, marketers will need to know which kind of evidence an agent is relying on.
Salesforce has not yet disclosed exactly how Listen Labs will be integrated or which agent workflows will use its data. For now, the deal shows one thing: Salesforce wants customer research to sit closer to the systems that make decisions about customers — and to the AI agents acting on their behalf.
