Only 16% of Russians consider fitness bloggers to be the most authoritative source of information about workouts. This was the result of a survey conducted by DDX Fitness and Didenok Team.

At the same time, the audience's interest in fitness is high: 89% of respondents exercise regularly. Respondents rated the role of bloggers in workout motivation at an average of 5.7 out of 10.

Over the past five years, content about physical activity has become one of the fastest-growing segments on social media. According to Two Circles, in 2024 users worldwide spent 3 trillion hours watching fitness content — 131% more than in 2020.

The gap between viewing volumes and trust in authors remains significant. Most Russians do not consider bloggers to be reliable sources of fitness information. Attitudes toward popularity metrics are also telling: 39% of respondents consider a blogger's number of followers an unimportant factor when choosing content.

The audience prefers practical formats. 63% of respondents choose exercise tips, 58% choose workout videos, and 48% choose breakdowns of fitness myths. Entertainment mechanics perform worse: challenges and contests attract only 12% of respondents.

"The most effective tools for motivation turn out to be 'before/after' stories and demonstrating physical activity as part of everyday life," said Peyzulla Magomedov, CEO of Didenok Team.

The study's authors note the growing role of micro-influencers. Their advantage is a narrow but loyal audience. The engagement rate of such authors is 5–8% — several times higher than that of bloggers with millions of followers. 82% of consumers expressed a willingness to follow micro-influencers' recommendations.

The conclusion for brands is obvious: when planning advertising campaigns in the fitness segment, betting on mass-audience bloggers does not guarantee the audience's trust. Practical content and working with niche authors deliver a more predictable result.
