Spotify opens podcast monetization in 35 new countries
Spotify has expanded its partner program for podcasters to 35 countries, including Italy, Spain, Mexico, and Brazil. The service's advertising revenue for Q2 2026 amounted to €446 million.

Spotify has expanded its partner program for podcasters to 35 countries. The move will allow creators to earn from advertising and from revenue sharing based on Premium subscriptions. This was reported by TechCrunch, citing company data.
The list of new markets includes Italy, Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Poland, the Bahamas, and other countries. Previously, the program operated only in the US, Europe, and Australia.
Podcasters from these countries will now be able to earn revenue from both video and audio podcasts. Revenue is calculated based on video views by Premium users. The program also provides for advertising revenue sharing among creators whose content is listened to by users of the free version of the service.
Spotify emphasized that blog authors retain the ability to distribute their podcasts on other platforms. This removes the exclusivity question for makers participating in the partner program.
Content consumption dynamics confirm the company's interest in the format. According to Spotify, video podcast views on the platform have grown by 140% since the feature launched in 2022.
The program's expansion coincided with the publication of the company's financial results for the second quarter of 2026. Spotify's advertising revenue amounted to €446 million. The figure grew by 1% year over year in reported prices and by 3% at constant currency.
The expansion of monetization geography intensifies competition for podcast creators in the emerging markets of Latin America and Southern Europe. Local content creators gain a direct revenue channel that does not depend on direct advertising integrations with brands.
